Oxy-Fuel Welding

IMPORTANT NOTE: While the Oxy-Fuel Welding certificate is an approved program for Sandburg, we are not enrolling at this time while we review program updates to offer the best educational opportunities for our students.

The American Welding Society Level 1 Certificate may be of interest to you. Please contact the Welcome Center at 309.345.3500 or welcomecenter@sandburg.edu, or your advisor for more information.

The Oxy-Fuel Welding Certificate program is designed to enable the graduate to succeed in employment as a welder in the industry. The graduate will be proficient in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, arc welding,and reading blueprints. Students receive various levels of welding proficiency after successfully completing tests to measure their welding skills.

 

Admission requirements

Oxy-Fuel Welding certificate is an open-enrollment program, meaning there isn't any criteria students must meet to be admitted.

We encourage all prospective students to visit campus. We have several Explore Sandburg open houses throughout the year, or you can schedule a campus visit at your convenience.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates a 14% employment growth of pipe-fitters and steam-fitters from now to 2028. The increase in employment is expected due to workers exiting the labor force for the purpose of retirement or workers seeking new occupations.
